Group wide project. Due to the popularity and therapeutic nature
of this project, we are still continuing it!

Directions: Students will write personal secrets (appropriate content for school setting) and place them into a jar. Everyone in class will draw out of the jar one of the secrets and create a piece of art that includes the secret. This piece of art should be a visual representation of the written secret, completely original in design, and a piece that allows the artist another view point into someone's world. The artwork should make the secret much more powerful and meaningful. The secret should be included within the artwork, with a font and color that works with the overall piece. Once you are done, ask a neighbor to take a look at your artwork. Ask them to critique your work, giving suggestions on what to improve, and to make comments on what works. Listen to their thoughts for their fresh perspective might make the biggest difference on how successful your piece may become.
Objective: Students will learn how visual communication is vital in our changing world. A picture can say much more than words. Students will learn about mood, color, composition, fonts, and form and when combined correctly these elements can create a piece that visually communicates. This project is a way for teenagers to express themselves, have others realize that they are not alone in this world of emotions, and to connect with others. It is also designed as ideas for future art therapists. Art therapy is a growing trend with counselors and is easily connectable to others. Students will relate to each other's thoughts and problems, finding a visual way to help each other, even if they do not know who it is that they are helping.

These are just a small sample of some of the amazing secrets made in Periods 3-4:
